Borders are always particular, crossing to anther country is man made misery and history. Often rivers and mountains are used as natural borders to help and protect! Clearly, the people living here were closer to the people across the border than the ones within the border. The sign of the uniformed and civil permanently present. The control of law and order agents was extremely clear – they don’t want foreigners! There is suspicion, observation as well military or police controls. Very little conversation or lack thereof made this journey rather difficult. And yet, communication with the locals would accidentally happen, very careful, obviously to avoid risk for everyone, mostly by gestures, hospitality was warm, tea and food was offered, people are curious everywhere. They just hope not to host a spy! The nature is hostile, but people are warm and very conscious… and I wonder how can people live a life under such pressure and control, in suspicion and paranoia.
